Marysville plans events to honor Sept. 11 victims

The city of Marysville is sponsoring a walk in Everett on Thursday to honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Operation Homefront Washington Freedom Walk is 6 p.m. at the Snoho­mish County Campus, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Walkers will receive a T-shirt, a small American flag, patriotic pompoms and more.

In Marysville on Thursday morning, police, firefighters and elected officials plan to gather at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St., for a remembrance ceremony. The time for this event has not been set.

Council on Aging needs volunteers

Snohomish County residents interested in the issues facing older adults and people with disabilities can apply for membership on the Snohomish County Council on Aging. The council advises the county on federal, state and local funds targeted to the elderly.

Three-year terms begin Jan. 1. The Council on Aging meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
