A man was airlifted with serious injuries after a rollover accident on southbound I-5 near Twin Lakes Avenue and 156th Street NE Friday afternoon.
The 72-year-old Arlington driver suffered a serious medical emergency before his car left the freeway lanes, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
According to a Washington State Patrol press release, the car struck the guardrail and rolled, landing on its right side on the west side of Twin Lakes Avenue.
The airlift arrived less than 30 minutes later to take the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Marysville Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Goodale said.
He said the man’s condition is listed as unstable.
Medics took the only passenger to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett.
The 70-year-old Arlington woman is the driver’s wife, Washington State Patrol reported.
Goodale said she is believed to be in stable condition.
Leary said traffic on I-5 had backed up, but all lanes were open after the accident.
