Tulalip ceremony to bless land

The Katrina Jim Corp. will bless nearly 60 acres of Tullaip land that is expected to become a major retail or entertainment attraction. The public is invited.

The ceremony will be followed by a feast of traditionally prepared salmon. The blessing will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday on a portion of the Katrina Jim property, which sits north of 116th Street NE and west of I-5.

Jewish band plays at bookstore

A Gathering Grove bookstore hosts Jewbilee, an Everett-based Jewish band playing traditional Jewish music in a nontraditional way.

They plan to entertain from 6 to 8 tonight at 2820 Oakes Ave., Everett. The interfaith event is free.

Hospice volunteers are needed

Group Health seeks hospice volunteers for weekday shifts in Snohomish County. Volunteers stay with patients in their homes, assist with errands and tasks and offer emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families.

Native American flute festival

A Native American flute festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Country Village, 23718 Bothell-Everett Highway, Bothell. The festival also features instruments from around the world.

Learn about fall yard problems

Wednesday’s Washington State University Snohomish County Extension Bugs &Blights program will hone in on pests and diseases by entomologist Sharon Collman.

The class is offered at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at Cougar Auditorium, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. The class costs $20. Call 425-338-2400.

Correction

A press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Seattle provided inaccurate information about the sentencing of Timothy R. Bland. He will not have to register as a sex offender when he completes his prison sentence for federal drug charges and state charges of kidnapping, assault, burglary and other felonies. A story on Page B1 Tuesday included the inaccurate information.
