INDEX — A rock climber hurt his leg and chest when he fell about 30 feet Sunday off the Lower Town Wall, a popular climbing area near Index.
Rescue teams reached the man after 1 p.m., Snohomish County Fire District 28 Assistant Chief Ernie Walters said.
The Snohomish County search and rescue helicopter was used to hoist the man from the area and take him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Walters said.
The man fell, landed on his feet and then fell onto his back.
Several fire departments assisted with the technical rescue, including Gold Bar, Monroe and Fire District 7.
