Warm Beach luxury senior housing debated

EVERETT — The Warm Beach Senior Community had a second chance this week to lobby for its plan to build 100 luxury senior apartments near Stanwood.

That plan was rejected in August by the Snohomish County hearing examiner, who argued that the proposal ignored county density guidelines and would mar the area’s rural beauty.

On Monday, representatives of the hearing examiner and the Warm Beach Senior Community made their cases before the Snohomish County Council, council analyst Peggy Sanders said. The Warm Beach Stewards, a group opposed to the project, and area residents also made public statements.

The council is expected to debate the issue at a meeting next week, and a final decision is expected Oct. 20.
