EVERETT — A man abandoned his car and ran across the freeway trying to escape arrest Friday night.
A Washington State Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle going north on I-5 just south of 128th Street SW shortly after 11 p.m. Friday.
When she attempted to arrest the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence, the 43-year-old Redmond man ran across I-5, State Patrol Sgt. Kirk Rudeen said.
“It’s a miracle he didn’t get hit,” he said.
The driver continued running north on the westbound shoulder of I-5 for a good quarter-mile, Rudeen said.
The trooper was moving parallel to the man along the opposite shoulder of I-5. She used a powerful flashlight and was able to report the man’s location to other troopers, Rudeen said.
He said the man was booked into Snohomish County jail Friday night. Nobody was hurt.
