EVERETT — Evening commuters, take note — 41st Street is expected to be out of order for three nights.

Contractors plan to grind and remove old asphalt on 41st Street from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday and ending Friday morning.

Traffic along the eastbound lanes of 41st Street will be closed during those hours.

During the detour, drivers can get to 1-5 via the southbound ramp at Pacific Avenue or the northbound ramp at Everett Avenue.

Construction crews have been working on 41st Street in an effort ease congestion. The road segment will be widened from four to six lanes, and a sidewalk will be added. Work is expected to finish by the end of October.

There are also plans to take the new bicycle trail being built on 41st Street and extend it all the way to Everett Station. Two new traffic lights are scheduled to be installed on an adjacent road by spring 2009.

The entire project will cost the city of Everett $3.6 million.
