Everett City Council, 8:30 a.m. today, City Council chambers, 3002 Wetmore Ave. The agenda includes a proposal to award Argosy Cruises of Seattle a $101,125 contract to provide ferry service to Jetty Island in 2009.

Everett Historical Commission, 7 p.m. tonight, Weyerhaeuser Room, fourth floor, Everett Station, 3201 Smith Street. The commission is holding a public hearing on the creation of a historic district, which would add a layer of requirements for renovating homes, along several blocks in the Riverside Neighborhood.

Marysville Library Board, 4 p.m. Thursday, Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St.

Stanwood City Council, 7 p.m. Thursday, board room at the school district administration building, 26920 Pioneer Highway. The agenda includes action on the proposed annexation of about 11 acres in the city’s northwest urban growth area.

Island County Sheriff Mark Brown plans a community outreach meeting for those who live on central and north Whidbey Island, 7 p.m. today, Heller Road Fire Station, 2720 Heller Road, Oak Harbor. Brown plans to talk about sheriff’s office workload, crime statistics, the 911 call center and budget requests.
