EVERETT — Michael LaMunyon made 9 of 10 3-pointers Saturday as the Sultan Turks boys basketball team shot 68 percent from the field and defeated Everett 71-57 on its home court.

“We took one on the chin tonight, hopefully we’ll learn from it,” Everett coach Aaron Nations said.

Nations said the Turks were able to hit most every open jump shot they took and Jordan Nicholes did an excellent job finding open shooters. Nicholes nearly had a triple-double finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists.

“They started strong and just kept going the whole game,” Nations said.

Sultan led 35-20 at halftime and Everett was never able to get closer than 10 points throughout the second half.

“If it wasn’t LaMunyon making a three it was (Nathan) Barnhill or (Zach) Beebe making a layin,” Nations said.
