Area events planned to commemorate MLK Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is Monday. Here are some events planned in his honor:
Bothell: Contribute to The Dream Wall on Tuesday at the University of Washington’s Bothell campus, 18115 Campus Way NE. An area of The Commons is set aside for folks to share their dreams for the campus, local community, nation and world.
Also, Martin Luther King Jr. speeches will be broadcast beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Everett: Residents at Evergreen Manor, inspired by President-elect Barack Obama’s call for a Day of Service, will pick up trash Monday at Union Slough. Evergreen Manor offers chemical dependency and domestic violence treatment.
Langley: Volunteers are invited to join the staff from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Good Cheer Food Bank, 2812 Grimm Road, Langley. Volunteers will gather to work at more than 5,000 different places around the country in memory of Martin Luther King Jr. In Langley, they aim to sort, clean and stock shelves. Monroe: Members of the Boys &Girls Club of Monroe will clean up around the East County Senior Center Monday in King’s honor. Club members also competed in a recent competition to see who knew the most about King.
Seattle: Hear readings of Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Center House Theatre at Seattle Center, 305 Harrison St.
