Volunteers needed for homeless count

The Snohomish County government is looking for people willing to help assess the number of homeless people in Snohomish County on Jan. 29 during the annual Point in Time homeless count.

The count helps ensure the continuation of federal and state funding to local programs designed to fight homelessness. The data also helps county leaders determine whether homelessness is easing or expanding in the area.

Volunteers are needed for each part of the county between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Each volunteer will be asked to commit to at least three hours.

Contacts for the event are as follows: North County, Nate Greeland, 425-347-6556; East County, Bill Humphreys, 425-259-3191; Central County, Dana Libby, 425-259-8129; South County, Mary Anne Dillon, 425-258-2766.
