SEATTLE — A Marysville man was sentenced Friday to 15 years in federal prison for his part in a methamphetamine trafficking ring.
Jose Lucas Zamora, 39, was convicted of three drug charges in October. He was arrested a year ago after he sold more than a pound of meth to an undercover police officer for $17,000, according to court documents.
Zamora tried to outrun police after the drug deal. Police reported that he raced through a residential area in Lynnwood in a car, narrowly missing some children playing in a cul-de-sac. Zamora was arrested after he crashed the car into a tree.
The South Snohomish County Narcotics Task Force along with the Drug Enforcement Administration had been investigating the ring for about a year.
Zamora’s brother Efrain Zamora has been indicted on drug charges and remains a fugitive from police, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle. Another man, Jose Christopher Crist, was sentenced to five years in prison in November.
Jose Zamora is expected to be deported once he serves his prison sentence.
