EVERETT – Two young women were arrested Monday in connection with a bomb threat that closed Mariner High School Friday.

Neither girl attends the school, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

School officials found a note Friday morning and took the threat seriously enough to call off classes. Bomb-sniffing dogs were used to search the school.

A school resource officer, a deputy assigned to the high school, heard rumors from students about who might be responsible for making the threats, Hover said.

That information led to the arrest of an 18-year-old and another girl, who is believed to be about 15, officials said.

The older suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of threats to bomb. The younger girl was booked into Denney Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of threats to bomb and second-degree malicious mischief.

The case remains under investigation.
