MARYSVILLE – A woman looking for a ride Tuesday night was hit on the back of the head with a pistol and had to be taken to the hospital.

The handgun may have fired during the assault, but the woman was not shot, Marysville police Lt. Jeff Goldman said.

Police were called around 8 p.m. to the 7-Eleven in the 1100 block of Stave Avenue to reports of gunfire, he said.

They found the Marysville woman there who told them her version of what happened.

She told police she had been to the Taco Bell at 7th Street and Stave Avenue when she recognized a man in a gold truck, Goldman said. She asked for a ride in the truck with the man and another man, a passenger.

When the truck got to the 7-Eleven, the woman tried to get out over the passenger when she was hit in the head with the pistol, police said. She was able to get out and ran into the convenience store to get help.

The woman was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for her injuries, Goldman said.

Investigators believe the truck drove off and they weren’t able to immediately track it down.

Police ask anyone with information to call 360-363-8326.
