Boeing’s engineers union, SPEEA, will put the company’s latest contract offer up to vote for members in Wichita. But SPEEA leaders are urging members to vote down the offer.
About 700 SPEEA members at the Kansas defense site have been working under an extended contract since late last year.
Boeing said late last year that it would lay off 800 workers (union and otherwise) at the Wichita location by the end of 2009. Companywide, Boeing will cut 10,000 jobs this year, including 4,500 in its commercial airplanes division.
