No joke, you can see a free showing of “The Dark Knight,” starring Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Harbor Library. And free popcorn to boot. This movie is appropriate for adults and teens and is rated PG-13.

The library is at 1000 SE Regatta Drive, Oak Harbor. Call 877-766-4753 or go to www.sno-isle.org for more library events.

More freebies: If you liked (or missed) the movie “No Reservations” starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, take off for Everett Public Library at 2 p.m. March 8 for a free showing of “Mostly Martha.” The Zeta-Jones film is a remake of this delightful German movie (with English subtitles) about a woman whose life revolves around being head chef at a restaurant until she becomes the guardian of her 8-year-old niece.

The showing is part of the library’s once-a-month independent film series. It’s in the main auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Call 425-257-8000 or check www.epls.org for more library events.

The buzz: Meet author Chris Cleave as he talks about his book, “Little Bee,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Third Place Books. “Little Bee” is being touted as the next “Kite Runner,” at once funny, horrific and inspirational.

Third Place Books is at 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park. Call 206-366-3333 or visit www.thirdplacebooks.com.
