50 YEARS AGO (1959)

Drinks at the Easter Seal coffee party at the home of Nina O’Neil, 3324 Grand Ave., would be provided by Tillie’s. The baked goods to be served along with the coffee would be supplied by Avenue Pastry, Everett Pastry, Rotary Bakery and Troy Bakery. Finding out how good the coffee was that Gary McDowell brought from Tillie’s were Donna Anderson and Dawn Ludwick.

Dr. J.A. Julius, 1611 California St., Everett optometrist, announced that arrangements had been made to have a contact lens expert in Everett. In addition to filling contact lens prescriptions, Dr. Julius said the expert would answer questions regarding contact lenses.

25 YEARS AGO (1984)

More evidence that springtime was lurking in the wings: Charlotte Beaman reported she spotted a small flock of swallows flying over Smith Island, about two weeks earlier than she ever remembered seeing them before.

A. Timothy Martin of Marysville earned a pastoral ministries diploma from the Seminary Extension Independent Study Institute of Nashville, Tenn. He was a member of Frontier Baptist Chapel in Everett, where he served as pastor.
