Boeing lands at 40 on Fortune’s ‘Most Admired’ list

The Boeing Co. is ranked 40 in Fortune magazine’s “Most Admired Companies” list for 2009.
Boeing moved up from third to second in the most admired aerospace and defense industry category, trailing only United Technologies. Northrop Grumman came in eighth in the industry, EADS 13th.
Airlines that made the overall top 50 list include Southwest (which tied with FedEx at 7th) and Singapore Airlines (33rd). In the airline industry category, however, Continental grabbed the top spot as the most admired airline with Air France-KLM Group coming in second. Southwest placed third.
U.S. Airways Group ranked in the top 10 for least admired in terms of innovation and quality of product/services … I’m guessing its decision to charge for water on flights gained it that dubious distinction.
