Army Maj. John Snyder recently was promoted to his current rank. He serves in the Army Reserves as an adjutant for the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, from Fort Hood, Texas, and currently is in Iraq. The son of Stuart and Ellie Snyder of Lake Stevens, he is a 1989 graduate of Lake Stevens High School and a 1999 graduate of Central Washington University.

Air Force Airman Darren T. ­Zajdel has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Thomas Zajdel of San Antonio and brother of Melanie Heil of Oak Harbor. Zajdel is a 2008 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Army Capt. Megan M. Solberg has returned from serving in Mosul, Iraq, where she provided medical care to service members for 15 months. The 86th Combat Support Hospital is assigned to the 44th Medical Command and supports the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky. Solberg is an Army nurse with more than three years of military service. She is the daughter of Michael and Kathryn Miller of Riverton, Wyo. Her husband, Erik, is the son of Dale and Mary Solberg of Sultan.

Army Pvt. Joel Ringnalda has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Latricia Ringnalda of Lynnwood and is a 2007 graduate of Meadowdale High School.

Katie L. Dale has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army after successfully completing the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program and graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University. Dale is the daughter of Mike and Doris Dale of Monroe and 2004 graduate of Monroe High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Kaytie R. Henson, daughter of Jackie and Mike Henson of Oak Harbor, recently completed basic training at Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Henson is a 2007 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Army Sgt. Ryan J. Wahl has arrived for duty at Holland Recruiting Station, Mich. Wahl, a recruiter with three years of military service, is assigned to the Great Lakes Recruiting Battalion. He is the son of Julie and Edward Wahl of Oak Harbor.
