South Everett Goodwill’s Job Training and Education Center, 228 SW Everett Mall Way, is enrolling people in upcoming free classes that teach people with significant employment-skill barriers to find and keep jobs. Classes, which run from March 23 to May 7, include ones for adults who want to learn or improve in English, and ones for people to learn basic office computer skills, such as using Microsoft Office software. The Construction Industry Training Council offers a host of classes for experienced and entry-level tradespeople. State-approved classes are scheduled for Everett in March and April covering electrical and plumbing continuing education for experienced people and basic electrical classes for trainees. SMG has announced three new additions to its management team at the Lynnwood Convention Center: Sharon Ramento, who has been named sales manager; Naomi Carrier, the center’s new catering operations manager; and Cathy Maxwell, who has been named event manager.
Jim Smith, a senior mortgage/financial manager with Hometown Lending, 10025 19th Ave. SE in Everett, has joined the Rotary Club of Everett Port Gardner. Smith owns Pacific Aero Aviation LLC and is an instrument-rated, single and multi-engine commercial pilot. He has served for 22 years on the Lynnwood City Council, is a recent past president of the Washington Pilots Association, and is a former chairman of the Snohomish Health District board, on which he served for 10 years as a board member.
Christine Malone, heart and vascular clinical practice manager at the Everett Clinic, has published her first book, “Administrative Medical Assisting.” Malone began writing the textbook in 2005 after teaching for a year at Everett Community College in the Health Sciences Department. While looking for teaching materials at the time, Malone found most books were not written by people with actual experience in administration at a medical office. Malone will use the textbook during spring quarter when she teaches a class on health care finances at EvCC.
