Everett: EvCC to host blood drive

Everett Community College Student Activities Health and Wellness Program and the Puget Sound Blood Center are hosting a blood drive at EvCC April 15 and 16.

The drive is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days at EvCC’s Jackson Center. Walk-in donors are welcome. EvCC is at 2000 Tower St. Parking on campus is by permit only. Visitors’ permits are available in the Security Office, Parks Student Union, and may be picked up the day of the event.

Lynnwood: Student organizes fundraiser

Meadowdale High School senior Emily Hunt has organized a “Furry Friends Fundraiser” to benefit the Everett Animal Shelter. The event is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Meadowdale Elementary School, 6505 168th St. SW in Lynnwood.

Pet lovers and their dogs are welcome to attend and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment.

The cost is $10 per person or $20 for families of four or more.

Monroe: Students compete in eco event

Five Monroe Middle School students are competing in the Lexus Eco Challenge “final challenge” for a grand prize of $50,000. The team qualified for the national competition by creating a Web site about saving Puget Sound and winning a similar competition earlier this year.

This time, the students are focusing on the growing hazard of electronic waste. They invite everyone to go to their Web site at www.endewastetoday.org.
