Front Porch: Monroe market seeks vendors

There is a new market in town. Monroe River Valley Farmers Market, off Highway 203 near the Lewis Street bridge in Monroe, is looking for food and craft vendors to fill its space.

The market, at 19829 168th St. SE, is scheduled to be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, May 1 through Nov. 1.

Shine a light: The Mukilteo Lighthouse will open for the season Saturday.

Opening ceremonies will begin at noon and the lighthouse and gift shop will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers in period costume will be on the grounds and will tell stories of local history based on their respective character portrayals. Also, Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine will officially open the lighthouse for the season.

Refreshments will be served. The lighthouse, gift shop and interpretive center are open on weekends and holidays from April through September. And there’s no entry fee.
