Air Force Airman Zachary T. Bert graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Bert is the son of Jerry Bert of Monroe and Rhoda Lochmann of Snohomish. The airman is a 2007 graduate of Monroe High School.

Marine Corps Sgt. Caleb J. Olsen was meritoriously promoted to his current rank on Feb. 2 while serving in Iraq. Olsen has just returned from his second deployment with the 1st Battalion 3rd Marines. He is the son of Ken and Claire Olsen of Lake Stevens and a 2005 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.

Air Force Airman Stephen K. McKenzie graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. McKenzie is the son of Renee Tisdale of Oak Harbor and brother of Aisling McKenzie of Texas. The airman is a 2007 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Army Reserve Sgt. 1st Class Michelle M. Flores has arrived for duty at the Omaha Company, Army Recruiting Station in Bellevue, Neb. Flores, a recruiter, is a member of the Denver Army Recruiting Battalion, and has served in the military for 18 years. She is the daughter of Lindall and Myrna Carpenter of Marysville and a 1978 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School and a 1981 graduate of Yakima Valley Community College.
