LYNNWOOD — Construction on a new fire station near Lake Serene should start soon, after officials turn dirt at a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday evening.
Everyone is invited to the 5 p.m. event at the new Snohomish County Fire District 1 station, 3922 156th St. SW, Lynnwood.
A fire engine and a medic unit should be based at the station next spring, when crews are expected to finish construction.
The location for the new station was selected to optimize response times after Fire District 1 conducted a on call loads and patterns as well as travel times, according to a fire district statement.
Fire District 1 currently staffs eight fire stations and serves more than 160,000 residents in the unincorporated areas of south Snohomish County and the cities of Mountlake Terrace and Brier.
