MARYSVILLE — It sounded like a terribly dangerous situation. A young mother stabbed and a toddler possibly held hostage in a home with a man recently out of jail.
Marysville police quickly responded to the neighborhood of 38th Avenue NE and 120th Street NE, Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said.
The mom, 19, called 911 around 12:30 p.m., he said.
“She got stabbed in the hand and ran out of the house,” he said. The wounds were treated with bandages at the scene.
In her rush to leave the home, the mom left her 2-year-old daughter behind. Police feared the girl might be in the house with the suspect, 20, who is the toddler’s father.
The department’s SWAT team and crisis negotiators were summoned.
While police were preparing to enter the home, the toddler came out on her own, Lamoureux said. She wasn’t hurt, but the girl also couldn’t tell officers if her dad was still inside.
Meanwhile, officers got a tip that the man might have taken off. They searched a south Marysville neighborhood where the man was arrested.
“That was probably the best case scenario for an ending, so we’re happy with that,” Lamoureux said.
The father, who has a criminal history, was expected to be jailed for investigation of second-degree domestic violence assault.
