Haran Irish Dancers and An Dochas join up for a free Everett concert on Saturday

They’re a little traditional, a little Irish and a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.
The group An Dochas, who will be backed by the Haran Irish Dancers, skillfully combines all three styles, serving up a veritable Irish stew of sounds that includes moving ballads and rowdy comical numbers.
An Dochas (Irish for “the hope”) performs a blend of traditional Irish music with world-music influences and dishes it all up with the energy of rock. An Dochas uses traditional and nontraditional instruments, including the guitar, bass, drums, Uillean pipes, whistles, bodhran and fiddle.
An Dochas plays against a backdrop of lively step dancing by the Haran Irish Dancers. This group incorporates slip jigs danced in soft shoe, figure dance and choreographies. It also combines Irish folk tales dramatized through song and dance, and fast-moving, hard-shoe dancing.
An Dochas is onstage at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Everett Civic Auditorium, 2415 Colby Ave., Everett.
This is a free performance and the last one in the Everett Community College’s 2009 Artist and Lecture Series. The series was presented by Everett Community College’s Student Activities Office.
