Cascade Bank has promoted Marilyn Leon to vice president. She is the manager of the bank’s Evergreen branch, located at 6920 Evergreen Way in Everett. Leon is involved in the United Way’s IDA program, which encourages savings through a match program while providing participants with an education on managing finances.
Will Christison has been named director of operations and event services of the Lynnwood Convention Center in Lynnwood. The Lynnwood Public Facilities District owns the Lynnwood Convention Center and contracts with SMG to manage the facility.
Matthew Waldron, an Edmonds doctor of chiropractic, was recently named “Volunteer of the Year” by the Washington State Chiropractic Association. Waldron operates Waldron Chiropractic, 22933 Highway 99 in Edmonds. The office will move to a new location in June to 23009 56th Ave. W. in Mountlake Terrace. Waldron has volunteered as a youth basketball coach for over ten years. He serves as an advisory board member for Multiple Sclerosis Helping Hands.
MDRNA, Inc., a genetic therapeutics company based in Bothell, has appointed Beverly Davidson and Dr. Carl Novina, to its scientific advisory board. Davidson is currently professor of medicine, neurology and physiology and biophysics in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa. Novina is an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Deana Choi of Marysville was one of 203 students to receive a doctor of medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, at commencement, May 15. Choi is the daughter of Jay and Sun Choi of Marysville. Following graduation, she will begin an ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Deb Asplund of Vision Works Design in Freeland has just completed the National Association of Home Builders training to become a certified green professional. The training, which includes a code of ethics, will allow Asplund to demonstrate to customers the increased performance, health benefits and environmental impacts of green homes.

The Everett office of the state Department of Revenue will host a free workshop for new and small business owners from 1 to 4 p.m. June 4 at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Participants can learn about state excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection, and record-keeping requirements. Certified financial planner Sean Bailey of LPL Financial Services of Everett will be the featured guest Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. on Getting Your Dough to Rise, the monthly personal finance show on KSER 90.7 FM. Chuck Noel hosts the program on Snohomish County’s public radio station.

Judd &Black of Everett and Marysville, Campbell’s StockPot of Everett, Dwayne Lane’s Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge &Suzuki of Everett, Intermec of Everett and Philips Healthcare of Bothell have all pledged cut their electricity use by 10 percent, The Snohomish County PUD reported. Collectively, they could save $200,000 annually and reduce electricity use enough to power nearly 300 homes, the utility reported.
Honors
The Association of Washington Business has honored 31 businesses and nonprofit agencies around the state for outstanding community service. Local companies received community service awards include Check Masters of Lynnwood and Damar Aerosystems of Monroe.
For the second time in five years, Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington has received national praise for its Wound Care Program. The center was named a Center of Distinction by Diversified Clinical Service. Cascade participates in a network of more than 260 centers nationwide, of which only 15 facilities were recognized as Centers of Distinction. The center is led by program director Michael Handley and includes Dr. Peter Wolff, Dr. Ken Sawyer, Dr. Todd Skiles, advanced registered nurse practitioner Cindy Downs and registered nurse and clinical coordinator Teri Burt.
Stadium Flowers announced that Nu Truong of Everett has won its Mother’s Day Sweepstakes. Her online purchase of the Lenox Butterfly Garden Pitcher from Stadiumflowers.com entered her name into the sweepstakes and made her one of five winners of $1,000.
