MARYSVILLE — No one was injured, including the family dog, when a fire erupted Thursday evening at a house in the 6700 block of 57th Street NE.

Marysville Fire District crews were called out around 6:40 p.m., and a column of smoke could be seen as fire crews were on the way, fire department spokeswoman Kristen Thorstenson said.

Firefighters quickly were able to control flames in the back area of the three-story home, she said. All occupants had evacuated and planned to stay with family.

An investigation by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office determined the cause to be discarded smoking materials. Damage to the house and its contents was estimated to be worth about $100,000.

Marysville Fire District was assisted by an engine company from the Getchell fire district and a battalion chief from Lake Stevens.
