Front Porch: Everett Food Bank calls are a scam

If you get a phone call asking for a credit card number to make a donation to the Everett Food Bank, don’t bite on this scam.
Volunteers of America said they’ve received reports this week of someone making phone calls asking for donations to the organization’s food bank.
The nonprofit welcomes donations but doesn’t make solicitation phone calls, said Sharon Paskewitz, director of basic needs services.
Food bank donations are always welcome, but the need is high during the summer, when food bank stocks begin to wane, she said.
