American flag has meaning far, wide

“Hats off, the Flag is passing by …”
That’s part of a poem I learned from an English book when I was in grade school in the Philippines, many years ago. I understood Mr. Boyce’s sentiment in his Wednesday letter, “Reclaim right to protect our flag.”
And it gave my heart a painful twitch remembering the death of a local principal in a remote province in the Philippines during the early occupation after Pearl Harbor. He met his early death, during Monday morning flag ceremony, refusing to lower the American Flag flying side-by-side with the red white and blue with a golden sun and three distinct gold stars on each corner of a white triangle, the Philippine flag.
You see, America, as many as there are disrespecting the American flag, all over the world there are many more who love and will die for it. My father did.
