SULTAN – Detectives are focusing on a Sultan home this morning in their search for evidence that may explain the stabbing of a Lynnwood teen.
A search warrant was being obtained to go into a home in the 200 block of Cedar Street, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.
Several people were being interviewed about the attack that left the boy, 16 or 17, with deadly wounds, she said. No arrests have been made.
Police were called at around 12:20 a.m. by neighbors who reported a fight near Fourth and Main streets, she said.
When Sultan officers arrived, they found the young man in the road.
He had critical injuries including stab wounds, Hover said. The teen was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle but could not be revived.
Major crime detectives went door-to-door in Sultan today interviewing people to try to figure out what happened and who might be involved.
Several young people in their teens and early 20s were involved in the assault, Hover said.
It’s unclear what the Lynnwood teen was doing in Sultan or what sparked the fatal assault, Hover said. Police also aren’t yet sure how many people were involved in the assault.
Among the evidence being reviewed today are video records made by several surveillance cameras along Main Street in Sultan, Hover said.
Even though the boy was brought to Harborview in King County, he’ll be returned to Snohomish County for an autopsy.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office provides police services in Sultan through a contract with the city.
