Edmonds City Council member Peggy Pritchard Olson was recognized on June 4 at the annual Sno-Isle Libraries Friends Celebration for her years of service to the Edmonds Library.

Olson became an active member of the Edmonds Library Board in 1990. Her involvement on the board led to her work with the Friends of the Edmonds Library.

She has been a member of the Friends of the Edmonds Library since the early 1990s and was the organization’s vice president from 2001-2002 and served as president from 2003-2004.

As part of her work with the Friends of the Edmonds Library, Olson organized the book sales for multiple years.

Olson received a certificate of appreciation for her work during the celebration.

“She was very honored and extremely grateful,” said Bea O’Rourke, a friend of Olson’s since 2001.

“Peggy grew up with a sense of and commitment to community service that is extraordinary,” Jonalyn Wool-Ivory, Sno-Isle Libraries director, said. “She is an example to all of us about how one person can make her community better through vision, hard work, and dedication.”

The Sno-Isle Libraries also recognized the Friends of the Snohomish Library for 50 years of service and the Friends of the Lynnwood Library for 30 years of service to their community libraries.

The Sno-Isle Libraries serves more than 656,000 residents in Snohomish and Island counties. Services and materials include 1.3 million items, reference services, electronic databases and computer equipment, Internet access, outreach programs for the homebound and local daycares, and story times for children.
