Tour a fire station
Madrona Fire Sirens, an auxiliary group for Camano Island Fire &Rescue, offers an open house at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at 916 W. Fifth St. on Camano Island.
Meet your neighbors, view plans for a new Vista Fire Station and have a hot dog.
Chief Mike Ganz will speak at 7:30 p.m. to update folks on a bond issue and talk about the potential new station.
Bridgeways touts certifications: Bridgeways plans an open house Wednesday.
It’s planned for noon to 2:30 p.m. at 1220 75th St. SW in Everett. A program is planned for 12:45 p.m.
Founded in 1981, Bridgeways is a mental health agency. At the open house, they are celebrating new manufacturing certifications they received.
Beware of lightning: It’s National Lightning Safety Awareness Week.
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, hundreds of people were permanently injured in 2008 by lightning strikes around the country and 28 were killed.
Eleven folks have been killed by lightning this year.
All thunderstorms produce lightning — and no place outside is safe when lightning is in the area. When thunder roars, go indoors.
If you can hear thunder, you are in danger.
