Arlington robberies may be connected

ARLINGTON — Police are trying to determine if there is a connection between a robbery at a Domino’s Pizza and a theft at an area Denny’s. Both incidents occurred early Sunday.
In each case, people reported that a masked man about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 140 pounds grabbed money and ran, Arlington city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.
The first incident was reported around 1 a.m. at the Domino’s Pizza in the 3100 block of Smokey Point Drive. A woman was closing up the shop when a man wearing a ski mask walked in and demanded money, Banfield said.
She gave the man what she had and he ran off. Police arrived within minutes, but weren’t able to track the man down.
About 4:15 a.m. a man walked into the Denny’s restaurant in the 22000 of Highway 530, she said. He reportedly went right to the cash register.
“He quickly opened the till and removed its contents before fleeing,” Banfield said.
Officers again rushed to the scene. They scoured the area but were unable to find the suspect.
Police believe the man may have run through a parking lot and gotten into a getaway car, Banfield said.
They don’t believe the man in either incident was armed.
