Arlington: Road closures scheduled
The Independence Day activities will close downtown streets from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The following roads will be closed: Olympic Avenue from Division Street to First Street; Division Street from West Avenue to French Avenue; Macleod Avenue and Durham Avenue from Division Street to Fifth Street; Broadway Avenue and Newberry Avenue from Division Street to Burke Street; and Gilman Street from Broadway Avenue to French Street.
Olympic Avenue also will be closed from Fifth Street to First Street July 10-12 for the Arlington Street Fair.

Marysville: Apply to make invocations
The city of Marysville is seeking people who are interested in presenting non-denominational invocations at City Council meetings.
The City Clerk’s office annually compiles a list of volunteers to present an invocation at one or more City Council regular meetings and work sessions. The council meets at 7 p.m. each Monday at City Hall, 1049 State Ave., excluding holidays and during the month of August.
In 2002, Marysville began opening council meetings with a brief invocation, similar to those that open sessions of the state Legislature in Olympia and Congress in Washington, D.C.

Marysville: School district offices closed
The Marysville School District offices are closed this week. The closure began on Monday and is scheduled to last through Friday.
The offices are scheduled to reopen on Monday, July 6 at 7:30 a.m. District offices are usually open until 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.

Stanwood: School sidewalk repairs begin
Students at Stanwood High School will have a new sidewalk to use when they return in the fall.
The old sidewalk is being removed this week, public works director Andy Bullington said.
Stanwood City Council recently approved the repair of the sidewalk, which is located on 272nd Street between Pioneer Highway and 80th Street.
About 882 square feet of sidewalk, 200 linear feet of curb and gutter and 20 spot repairs of sidewalk cracks are expected. In addition, some tree roots will be cut to keep the sidewalk from cracking. Landscaping will get topsoil and seed, Bullington said.
