Federal funding secured for Broadway bridge

U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., announced today she has secured federal funding for three Everett projects, including the replacement of the Broadway bridge.

The Senate’s Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations bill includes $3.2 million to help replace the bridge, $1.2 million for railroad tracks at the Port of Everett and $1 million for the Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center to find and renovate a new facility.

The bridge between Hewitt Avenue and California Street missed out on another round of federal funding under the Federal Highways Bridge Program earlier this year.

About 30,000 cars, trucks and buses drive over it daily. The city implemented weight limits and parking restrictions on it after it flunked an inspection in July 2008.
