EVERETT – Police this morning arrested the man they believe held up two adult stores last week and who may be responsible for a string of other robberies.
Police just before noon arrested a 24-year-old Lake Stevens man suspected of robbing two adult stores in Everett on July 30, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
Detectives are investigating whether the man is connected to any of the robberies in a string of about 20 in King and Snohomish counties, primarily at tanning salons.
A break in the case came after a woman walked into a Marysville police station on Saturday and told police she knew the suspect, Goetz said. The woman told detective she recognized the man from a local news broadcast.
Everett detectives followed the lead. Throughout the day Saturday, they gathered information about the car the suspect may be driving and his home address. About 6 this morning, patrol officers spotted the vehicle parked in the 2600 block of Grand Avenue, Goetz said.
Plain-clothes officers set up surveillance on the car. They arrested the man when he came out of an apartment around 11:40 a.m., he said.
The man was expected to be booked in Snohomish County Jail on at least two counts of first-degree robbery.
