Arlington: Learn to grow a fall garden and pressure-cook veggies
Arlington master gardener Bea Randall plans to talk planting a fall and winter garden, as well as helping people who are thinking about using a pressure cooker for the first time to can vegetables.
The presentation is set for 10 a.m. Aug. 15 in the community room adjacent to the Arlington Boys &Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE. The talk originally was scheduled for this Saturday.
The Snohomish County Master Gardeners and the city of Arlington are sponsors.

Camano Island: Car show at senior center
A collectors car show and flea market is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road. Barbecue, beer garden and entertainment by the South End String Band.

Pirates of Utsalady to throw party Sunday
The Utsalady Ladies Aid community potluck picnic is set for noon Sunday at 78 E. Utsalady Road, Camano Island. The Pirates of Utsalady have activities planned for all ages, including a scavenger hunt, one-leg races, walk the plank and a cake walk.
Bring your favorite potluck dish. Hot dogs and beverages provided.

Granite Falls: Forum offered for candidates
The Granite Falls Concerned Citizens Association is sponsoring a candidate forum Saturday.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Granite Falls Senior Center, 302 S. Granite Ave.
Candidates for Granite Falls mayor and the City Council have been invited.

Stanwood: Guitar Hero battle is Aug. 14
Davis Place, next door to the Stanwood Community Resource Center, plans to hold a Guitar Hero battle from 7 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 14. The event is for teens and run by teens.
Registration is free, and prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.
Come flaunt your stuff, back your friends or eyeball the local talent.

Warm Beach: Annual community gathering
Summer Fest, the Warm Beach Community Association’s annual neighborhood celebration, is set for 11 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Warm Beach Community Park on 94th Drive NW.
Activities for all ages are planned.
Marysville: Work due on 47th Avenue NE
The city and the Marysville School District were recently awarded $604,350 in federal funding for improvements to 47th Avenue NE from Grove Street to Armar Road.
With other funds, $781,818 is available for the work. The project will include curbs, gutters and sidewalks where they’re missing; widening of the east side of 47th Avenue NE from 10th Street to Seventh Street; traffic signal improvements; and bike lanes.
Work is planned to begin in September.
