Overdue hiker found safe

VERLOT — A search was launched on Mount Pilchuck on Sunday afternoon for an overdue hiker.

Crews were called about 4 p.m. after a group of hikers reported one of its members overdue, Snohomish County sheriff’s Lt. Kathi Lang said. The man, 21, was found safe about 10 p.m.

The hiker left the group to walk down on his own and failed to arrive. He hiked down the back side of the mountain, Lang said.
