MARYSVILLE — A faulty printer likely is to blame for sparking a fire early this morning in a portable classroom building at Cascade Elementary School in Marysville.

The building was destroyed and investigators estimate the loss at $250,000, Marysville Fire District division chief Tom Maloney said.

Crews were called around 2:30 a.m. to the school in the 5200 block of 100th Street NE, he said.

Downed power lines made it difficult for the firefighters to battle the blaze, Maloney said. The fire was brought under control after about 20 minutes.

No one was injured.

Marysville School District officials are working on plans to replace the classroom, Maloney said.

The Snohomish County fire marshal’s office is investigating.
