Arlington: Airport commission seat filled
Thomas Wright recently was appointed by the Arlington City Council to serve the remainder of an unexpired term on the Arlington Airport Commission.
Wright, a former Air Force pilot, has 30 years experience working for federal, state and local government agencies. Now retired, he maintains a hangar at the airport for his flying and aircraft-building interests.
Friendship Walk to help Voices of Village
Voices of the Village is scheduled to perform rock and roll hits from the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s at Village Community Services’ annual Friendship Walk, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Legion Park Gazebo, 114 N. Olympic Ave.
The walk through downtown Arlington features prizes, music and snacks for all who participate. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the walk begins at 1 p.m. The Friendship Walk celebrates the inclusion of people with disabilities into community life.
Those who donate or raise $25 or more in sponsorships can receive a commemorative T-shirt. Proceeds from the fundraising event benefit the Voices of the Village performance ensemble and Village Community Services’ Friday Music and Evening with the Arts events.

Grow your groceries event on Saturday
Another free Grow Your Own Groceries class, sponsored by the Snohomish County WSU Master Gardener program and the city of Arlington, is set for 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday in the community room at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE, Arlington.
Master gardener Bea Randall plans to talk about cleaning up the garden for winter, what to plant in late winter and early spring, and raising chickens in your garden during the fall and winter.
Get help finding your way to a new job
Do you need to re-enter the work force because of divorce, separation, death or disability of a spouse, or loss of welfare?
If so, find tools and support, at no cost to you, in workshops presented by “Pathways to Work” through the YWCA.
The next workshop is scheduled to for Sept. 16-29 in Arlington.

Camano Island: Class to teach about gardening for wildlife
Volunteers with the Camano Island Community Wildlife Habitat Project plan to talk about gardening for wildlife at 11 a.m. Saturday at Christianson’s Nursery, 15806 Best Road, Mount Vernon.

Fundraiser for boy who needs new heart
A fundraising event for the family of Deven Rekdahl, who needs a heart transplant, is set for 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Fireplace Tavern, 2320 Everett Ave., Everett.
The Camano Island eight-year-old is on a priority list for a transplant.

Marysville: Arts council displays show
Arlington Arts Council’s annual Art at the Plant Farm show is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Smokey Point Plant Farm, 15022 Twin Lakes Ave., Marysville.
Food, music and works by more than 40 artists Snohomish, Island and Skagit counties are featured.
