MARYSVILLE — A utility truck that caught fire on Monday evening started a blaze that burned through 2 acres of brush.

Firefighters around 5:30 p.m. were called to the 11300 block of State Avenue after the flames from the truck spread to the nearby brush, Marysville Fire District Battalion Chief Scott Goodale said.

Firefighters had to hike in with tools to reach the flames, he said. There was no easy access to water, and crews had to wait for a fire truck to bring water. More than a dozen firefighters worked for two hours to knock down the fire.

This is all a good reminder that the brush is still very dry,” Goodale said. “If people are thinking about burning, there are still regulations against that.”
