Air Force Airman Robert R. Tangen graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Evana Block of Seattle and Robert Tangen of Everett. Tangen is a 2005 graduate of Lynnwood High School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Jessica R. Hunt graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Timothy Hunt of Oak Harbor and is a 2004 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Air Force Airman Marla K. Deroo graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She is the daughter of Dean Deroo of Oak Harbor and is a 2006 graduate of Oak Harbor High School.

Army National Guard Pvt. Kyle J. Balda has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Dirk Balda of Stanwood and a 2007 graduate of Stanwood High School.

Army Reserve Pvt. Zackery M. Kessler has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Kessler is the son of Victoria Starrett of Marysville.

Navy Seaman Recruit Travis J. Suggs, son of Karen and James Suggs of Snohomish, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Suggs is a 2008 graduate of Monroe High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Timothy Cox, son of Timothy G. Cox of Monroe, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Cox is a 2009 graduate of Monroe High School.

Navy Fireman David A. Martinez, son of Martha and Jose Martinez of Lake Stevens, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, based in San Diego, Calif. Martinez is a 2004 graduate of Lake Stevens High School and he joined the Navy in January 2009.
