Front porch: Gusto food festival ticket deadline extended

The Everett Community College Foundation has extended the deadline to get tickets for Gusto.

The benefit features Northwest food, wine and microbrews from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 2 at Comcast Arena.

Those buying tickets by Friday save $5 off the $40 per-person admission with the code “educate.” Buy tickets at the box office at 866-332-8499 or at www.comcastarena everett.com.

Admission includes a commemorative wine glass and plate. All proceeds benefit the EvCC Foundation, which funds college scholarships, equipment and programs.

Stop shooting on Whidbey? The Island County Board of County Commissioners will meet to discuss possible restrictions on shooting at Deer Lagoon.

The public hearing is at 6 tonight at Freeland Hall, 1515 Shoreview Drive, Freeland.

A day of fun Saturday: Snohomish will host a hodgepodge of family activities at its second annual Community Day.

Vintage tractors, a zucchini car race and peddle tractor rides are all on the schedule. A DJ will play tunes. The Snohomish Food Bank will also run a food drive during the free event, handing out raffle tickets to all who donate for a drawing every 30 minutes.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Snohomish Station, 2727 Bickford Ave.
