EVERETT — There’ll be a bus parked outside the Fred Meyer store in south Everett on Saturday, but it won’t be there to pick up shoppers.

Instead, Everett Transit wants you to help fill its bus with new toys and food for those in need.

Everett Transit and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 883 are kicking off their annual Stuff a Bus campaign.

Volunteers encourage holiday shoppers to fill every space from floor to the ceiling on a 35-foot bus.

Once the bus is filled, it heads to the Volunteers of America, a charity in Everett.

To help stuff a bus, drop off toys and nonperishable food on any Everett Transit bus until Dec. 15.

Items also may be dropped off at the Everett Senior Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett, and at Everett Transit’s customer service center at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave.

You also can find the bus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fred Meyer at 12906 Bothell-Everett Highway on two Saturdays: Dec. 5 and Dec. 12. Everett Transit also plans to have the bus parked outside Fred Meyer on Dec. 13.

Everett Transit asks for new toys that do not have violent themes.
