EVERETT — Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives arrested an Everett man Monday for allegedly raping an autistic man in a restroom at Comcast Arena.

The attack reportedly occurred during a monster truck rally.

Detectives believe the man, 29, may have abused the autistic man, 23, several times, according to a report filed Tuesday in Everett District Court. The suspect is described in court papers as an acquaintance of the victim.

The suspect has denied the allegations. He told police he suffers from mental health problems and wasn’t taking his medicine.

The autistic man’s guardian contacted police on July 3, a couple of weeks after the monster truck event, police said.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree rape. A judge Tuesday ordered him held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The man also is wanted for an outstanding warrant in a sexual assault case from Texas.
