Excellent schools good for economy

Mukilteo is near and dear to me. Our children represent the fourth generation of my family to live in this community. The Mukilteo School District has grown from my parents’ generation as a fairly small school district to a highly valued district for the quality of education. Mukilteo was ranked 10th in Money magazine’s 2009 list of most sought after cities to live in the U.S.A. They cite “top-notch schools” as a key reason.
The schools do provide an excellent education, but we as a community need to make sure that they continue on the path that benefitted the generations before us. The Mukilteo School District will have two measures for the Feb. 9 special election: a maintenance and operations levy and a capital projects levy. For information on both of these, I encourage you to go to the Mukilteo School District Web site (www.mukilteo.wednet.edu).
Education is the key to a productive society. Give our children the resources to learn and all aspects of life will blossom. Many generations have prospered from the quality of education that the Mukilteo School District has provided. As a past educator and now a real estate agent, I see the importance of these levies passing as a teacher, parent and also as a real estate agent. Our community does provide an excellent school district. That is a great asset when buying or selling a home. I encourage you to get out and vote. I will be voting yes. Education is the key.
