Everett: City to buy aerators, solar-powered trash compactors
City leaders approved two big purchases Wednesday. The city plans to spend $145,137 for 35 solar-powered trash compactors made by Big Belly Solar. The trash cans save money in the long run by reducing the frequency of pick-ups. Most of the cost — $137,000 — is paid for by a federal grant.
The City Council also approved $242,000 to buy 13 new aerators from Aqua-Aerobic Systems Inc. of Rockford, Ill., to improve odor at the wastewater treatment plant.
