Arlington: County plans meeting to discuss natural hazards

Snohomish County officials are inviting members of the community to help update the county’s natural-hazard plan in Arlington on Thursday.

The plan assesses risk for nine types of disasters, including floods, earthquakes and landslides. Comments came from businesses, government agencies, diking districts and local residents.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. in the Arlington City Council chambers, 110 E. Third St. Another meeting is scheduled in Sultan during the same time slot tonight at Sultan Middle School, 301 High Ave.

Learn about Relay for Life at team meeting

The next Arlington Relay for Life team rally is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. This is a monthly captains’ meeting, with information about the American Cancer Society and fundraising ideas.

Marysville: Opening on civil service commission

The city has an opening on its Civil Service Commission, which decides on merit promotions and tenure for police officers and to determine whether firings, suspensions and demotions are justified.

A commissioner must be a U.S. citizen, a registered Snohomish County voter and a Marysville resident for at least three years. The six-year term starts in April.

Applicants must send a letter of interest to Tracy Jeffries, Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270. Apply by 5 p.m. March 12.

Stanwood: Good audit for North County Fire

North County Fire and EMS recently received a clean audit from the state Auditor’s Office. Auditors visited fire district officials in September to review accounting and other financial practices.

Fire commissioners, city council have workshop tonight

Stanwood City Council and Camano Fire Commissioners plan to meet for a joint workshop at 6 tonight at the Stanwood Fire Station, 8117 267th St. NW.

Council members and fire commissioners plan to talk about a financial analysis of the Stanwood-Camano Fire Department.

Learn about school district’s budget plans

Community members, parents and staff are invited to attend a Stanwood-Camano School District’s budget presentation.

The meetings focus on the current status of the district’s budget, the state budget deficit, declining enrollment and projected revenue losses.

Meetings are set for 6:30 p.m. Monday in the district’s board room, 26920 Pioneer Highway, Stanwood, and 6:30 p.m. March 15 at Utsalady Elementary, 608 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island.

Oak Harbor: Blood drive set for Monday

The Oak Harbor Lions Club is sponsoring a blood drive for the Puget Sound Blood Center from noon to 6 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 1050 SE Ireland St.

All blood types are needed. Homemade treats will be served.
