Reader poll: Should the WIAA add lacrosse?
In a recent online poll Herald readers answered the question: Should the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association add lacrosse as a sanctioned high school sport? The results were incredibly lopsided. Out of 1,004 total voters, 960 chose “Yes.” Lacrosse (boys and girls) is on the list of proposed amendments that the WIAA Representative Assembly will consider in April.
Recruiting news: Stanwood’s Schmidt picks UW
Stanwood senior Kale Schmidt signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent with the University of Washington. Schmidt, a standout in football, basketball and track, plans to compete in the decathlon for the Huskies.
Another local track and field athlete, Lakewood’s Chad Skiles, signed with the University of Great Falls (Montana).
And these five local soccer players signed with the Everett Community College women’s soccer team, coached by Geoff Kittle: Chelsea Boulton (Arlington), Kiely Cordon (Marysville-Pilchuck), Kaeli Eberth (Meadowdale), Meaghan Hatcher (Jackson) and Hailey Storbeck (Stanwood).
Prolific from long range
